Privacy Policy
The privacy policy is an explanation of how 1099.careers collects, uses, and protects personal information.

Introduction
1099.careers ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.
Information We Collect
Personal Information: We collect information you provide when creating an account, including your name, email address, phone number, and professional details.
Profile Information: For technicians, this includes skills, certifications, experience, rates, and availability. For companies, this includes company details, job postings, and hiring preferences.
Payment Information: Payment processing is handled securely through our payment partners. We do not store your full credit card information.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with our platform, including pages visited, features used, and time spent on the platform.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our services
- Process your subscription and payments
- Connect technicians with companies and job opportunities
- Send you important updates about your account and platform changes
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
- Ensure platform security and prevent fraud
- Comply with legal obligations
Information Sharing
We do not sell personal information for money. With your permission, we share advertising-measurement data with Meta as described below. This may be considered a sale or sharing for targeted advertising under some privacy laws. We may share information:
- Between platform users: Approved technician profiles are visible to companies, and company job postings are visible to approved technicians
- With service providers: We use trusted third-party services including Resend (emails), Neon (database hosting), and Google Analytics (aggregate site usage measurement)
- With Meta for advertising measurement: Only with your marketing-cookie permission, to measure visits to eligible public marketing pages.
- With Origami for company-level visitor insights: Only after you accept marketing cookies, we share your IP address, browser information, a random browser identifier, and the path of an eligible public marketing page. Origami uses IP-based information to help identify the visiting company, not to identify a named individual. We do not send account IDs, names, email addresses, form entries, query strings, or URL fragments. Signed-in visitors, private account pages, signup forms, support forms, and booking pages are excluded.
- With HeyCatch for public-page analytics: After a new acceptance of the marketing notice naming HeyCatch, it receives eligible public-page visits, interactions, browser information, and the IP address associated with its requests. Captured text and element attributes are masked. We do not send account identities, form entries, or private account activity. Its identifier is kept in memory rather than persisted between pages. Earlier consent to other vendors does not enable it. You can withdraw permission through Marketing cookie settings.
- For legal compliance: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety
- With your consent: When you explicitly authorize us to share your information
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption, secure authentication, and regular security audits. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Meta Advertising Measurement and Your Choice
With your permission, we use Meta Pixel to measure public-page visits and the effectiveness of our Meta advertising. Meta may receive your IP address, browser and device information, public page location and referrer information, and cookie identifiers, and may associate this information with your Meta account under Meta's privacy policy. These identifiers can constitute personal information. We do not send account or profile data, signup or purchase events, form values, or advanced-matching data to this pixel.
Meta tracking defaults to off. You can accept, decline, or later withdraw permission using Marketing cookie settings in the footer or the button below. A recognized Global Privacy Control signal disables Meta tracking. This choice applies to this browser and does not change our existing Google Analytics policy. Withdrawal stops future collection and clears accessible first-party Meta cookies; it does not undo information already received by Meta or delete Meta's own third-party cookies. Use your browser and Meta privacy controls to manage those cookies and data.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and update your personal information
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Opt out of marketing communications
- Request a copy of your data
- Object to certain processing of your information
To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@1099.careers
Cookies and Tracking
Our optional marketing notice appears near the public footer, not over page content. You can accept, decline, or dismiss it. When browser storage is available, we remember your choice or dismissal across visits. Dismissal is stored separately and never gives permission to track. Marketing cookie settings remains available in the footer even after dismissal. If storage is blocked, dismissal still works for the current page, but may not last across visits. An unsuccessful save does not enable tracking.
Origami is off until you accept the marketing notice that names it. Prior permission for Meta alone does not enable Origami. Declining or withdrawing permission stops Origami requests and removes its browser identifier; we do not use its anonymous tracking mode after refusal. We also honor Global Privacy Control. You can change your choice through Marketing cookie settings. Withdrawal does not automatically erase information previously received by a provider; contact support@1099.careers for help with a deletion request.
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and analyze platform usage. You can control cookie settings through your browser, but disabling cookies may limit platform functionality.
We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate site usage, such as which pages are visited and how visitors move through the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects device and browser information. Google Analytics 4 uses IP addresses to estimate general location but does not log or store individual IP addresses. We do not send names, email addresses, or account identifiers to Google Analytics. You can opt out with the Google Analytics browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
If you explicitly accept marketing cookies that include paid membership measurement, we may associate your Google Analytics browser identifier with your first successful paid technician membership. We report the payment amount, currency, and a non-identifying transaction reference to Google Analytics for advertising conversion measurement, including Google Ads. This can occur when a trial ends, even if you do not return to the website. We do not send your name, email address, profile, or payment-card details. Earlier permission for Meta or Origami alone does not authorize this use. You can withdraw through Marketing cookie settings, including while signed out in the same browser. Withdrawal stops future reporting; it does not erase events already received by Google.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you request account deletion, we will delete your information within 30 days, except where we're required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.
Children's Privacy
Our platform is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes via email or prominent notice on our platform. Your continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
