The 1099.careers user agreement is the set of terms governing access to and use of the platform.

Last updated: October 29, 2025

Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using 1099.careers ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Platform.

Platform Overview

1099.careers is a curated marketplace connecting telecommunications and security technicians with companies in the United States and the United Kingdom. The Platform facilitates connections between vetted professionals and verified companies, but we do not employ technicians or guarantee employment outcomes.

User Accounts

Registration: You must provide accurate, complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

Account Types: The Platform offers two account types - Technician and Company. Each account type has specific features, requirements, and subscription terms.

Approval Process: All accounts are subject to admin review and approval. We reserve the right to reject or terminate accounts that do not meet our standards or violate these terms.

Subscription and Payments

Technician Subscription: New technician membership enrollment is paused. New technicians and eligible existing accounts designated membership not required can verify their email, complete their profile, and submit for review without checkout, a payment method, or a trial. This exemption does not start a subscription or authorize future charges. Any future paid enrollment for these accounts requires a separate explicit enrollment policy and their affirmative payment consent; accepting these terms is not that consent. Existing subscriptions and trials continue under their previously accepted billing, renewal, and cancellation arrangements. Individually granted complimentary access remains honored. Profile completion and approval requirements still apply; access does not guarantee placement, work, or income.

Promo Codes: We may offer promotional discount codes from time to time. Promo codes have limited redemptions and expiration dates. We reserve the right to modify or cancel promo codes at any time.

Billing: Subscriptions are billed monthly on a recurring basis. You authorize us to charge your payment method on file for subscription renewals.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial months.

Payment Processing: All payments are processed securely through our payment partners. By providing payment information, you agree to our payment partner's terms of service.

Technician Responsibilities

Technicians agree to:

  • Maintain the licenses, insurance, and certifications required where they work

  • Communicate directly with companies regarding work arrangements
  • Comply with all safety regulations and industry standards

Independent Contractor Status: Technicians are independent or self-employed contractors, not employees of 1099.careers or the companies they work with. You are responsible for your own taxes, insurance, and business expenses under the laws of the country where you work, and for registering and reporting as a self-employed person or business where that country requires it.

Company Responsibilities

Companies agree to:

  • Provide accurate job postings and company information
  • Treat technicians professionally and fairly
  • Comply with all applicable labor laws and regulations
  • Ensure proper classification of workers (employee vs. independent contractor)
  • Handle payment arrangements directly with technicians

Disclaimer of Warranties

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms, fraudulent activity, or any other reason we deem appropriate. Upon termination, you lose access to all Platform features and your subscription is not refundable.

Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or prominent Platform notice. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
